Do any of your know of OS settings to verify password format (e.g. 
password length, alphanumeric content) on a HP-UX system.

My understanding is to check for: etc/default/security

PASSWORD_HISTORY_DEPTH=7
PASSWORD_MIN_UPPER_CASE_CHARS=1
PASSWORD_MIN_UPPER_CASE_CHARS=1
PASSWORD_MIN_DIGIT_CHARS=1
