Have a NW5 server thats bin up for over 3 years stright - so whats the big
deal??

Hmmm... hadn't thought of it in those terms, but except for some recent
electrical work I did in my "computer room" [installed a ceiling fan] I'd
have uptimes close to that as well for a couple of my systems... [didn't
strictly need to power off the computers to install the fan as it was on a
separate circuit, but it seemed the safer thing to do in the event
"something" catastrophic occurred] but in the "my, how time flies"
category, I see I did that 37 days ago -- doesn't seem that long, really...

hmmm^2... I know I have one system set for "automatic updates", which would
(I presume) include kernel updates, but I suspect that unless I actually
REBOOT, the "kernel" won't actually swap in...
