Matti,

> OK! Sounds good to me also!

December 8th. Cinepaint project leader Robin Rowe presents Glasgow, the next
generation CinePaint architecture.

CinePaint is a 32-bit deep paint program used to do frame-by-frame
retouching during the production of feature films at many studios. It was
originally developed by GIMP and became orphaned in 2000. The CinePaint
project is a group of motion picture industry developers who came together
in 2002 and reused some forgotten GIMP code, not a group of estranged GIMP
developers as some suppose.

A research team at Glasgow University began building a next generation
architecture for CinePaint in 2004. This ground-up code rewrite, codenamed
Glasgow, is intended to release the end of 2005. The new design reuses the
best design ideas of the legacy CinePaint architecture together with fresh
ideas from the film industry to create a new open lightweight
component-based architecture for image manipulation and processing. Glasgow
uses FLTK instead of GTK and will operate at the command-line without a GUI.
