Ah, but this is only comparable if you're running Testing or Unstable.  If 
you're running Stable, those upgrades are bug-fixes only, and version 
bumps are only done as a last resort.  So you still have the big upgrade 
when a new stable is released.  Following sid would be more to the point, 
since there is never a big upgrade of Sid--it just rolls along package by 
package.

It's not unique, though, because Gentoo does rolling upgrades rather
better than Debian does.
