I got one of those types of emails from the City of Pasadena and I don't
live in the City. They're scanning the California Franchise Tax Board for
anyone who uses their home address for their business address with
"Pasadena" as the city. My mailing address says "Pasadena" because of the
postal zip code but my house is actually in unincorporated LA County but
they didn't know that. They threatened that if I didn't send the letter
back stating that, they will send me a bill. Cost me 43 cents.

Hi!
Curious what happened with this in the end.
Turns out that this sort of demand is fairly
common from Pasadena City, as another CITer
has mentioned a similar demand from the city.
thanks!

It occurred to me that maybe someone here may know something
about this:
I have a personal web site and blog at http://1134.org. A few
years ago, I signed up for Google Adsense, and they put about
four little text ads on the side of my blog page. Overall, it
makes me just about enough money to cover the cost of hosting
the site.
Now the city of Pasadena is claiming that this is a 'home-based
business' and saying I have to get a business license and pay
them a tax on the untold millions that I'm evidently making
of this Internet thingy.
Has anyone else here dealt with something like this?
