[SGVLUG] Any Gentoo Fanatics around here?

Doh, I just saw that someone beat me to the posting about the
structure of /etc....  Just to make it explicit in the case of the
webserver: some distros use /etc/rc*.d and /etc/init.d, but gentoo has
/etc/runlevels/, /etc/init.d and /etc/conf.d.  This is important for
you if you are updating the webserver b/c the apache
start/stop/restart program is /etc/init.d/apache2 (this is probably
the same for other distros), some basic config is in
/etc/conf.d/apache2 (apache module loading I think), and the http.conf
file is in /etc/apache2/http.conf.  the htdocs are in

/var/www/localhost/

on my gentoo computer.  I think this is the default, but not sure.
Like the partitioning and many of the steps in gentoo installation,
it's pretty flexible where to put things.  I'm not a big gentoo guru,
but I learned a lot (more than enough???!!!)  from the installation
procedure.  A lot of times if I have problems, just going back to the
installation manual is sufficient to fix them.  If you're new to
gentoo and esp if you are going to be mucking around w/ it, I'd
recommend checking it out...
