Absolutely.  One of the strongest arguments in favor of open source is
that the "no reverse engineering" clause that usually accompanies the
other software amounts to a prohibition against reading the content of
one's own computer.  If a student is forbidden to read it, it doesn't
belong in a school.  It's like turning the child loose in the computer
lab with the rule that "you may use, but you may not look inside".

Another good thing to do is to subscribe the club to this mailing list
and encourage individual members to do the same.  Some of us think
that the thoughtful dialogue that's possible in email can be even more
valuable than impromptu real-time dialogue.
