quick review of the expo so far...
I have yet to hit the expo floor
( I will go after sending this out.. )
feels like a small conference, lots
of vendors talking in the conference
sessions. I managed to hit a number
on security (VoIP) and Open Source.
Open Source seems to be doing really
well in Eastern Europe, where they
do not have the entrenched traditional
telcom legacy systems and "players"
The issue with Open Source telcom is
the ability to scale to larger deployments.
( such as limits on the number of T1/E1 ports/
cards in a "PC" chassis - i.e. pci ports. )
Security in VoIP - harder than data, as
DOS attacks easy against VoIP (VoIP
needs more bandwidth), as well as numerous
flaws in applications and SIP stacks.
One company plans an announcement on
"testing" security software in toorcon
(toorcon.org) end of sept in San Diego.
Turns out there is a number of open
source security tools regarding VoIP
security.
The more I learn about security, the scarier
it gets.
http://toorcon.org/ (sept 26-28)
hmmm...looks like an interesting conference,
anyone interested in a road trip???
best
