[SGVLUG] Not-so-quick question 1

I have a not-so-quick question:

 

I have an external USB hard drive (Lacie) that is not stable.

 

I replaced the hard drive inside, but I am still getting the same problem.

 

Under Windoze it does not format.  I can format it NTFS under Linux.

 

When I move the drive back to Windoze I keep getting 'delayed write
failure's.

This is the fourth case I have tried (over two drive mechanisms) and I'm
seeing the same problems.

 

Does anyone have experience with this?  What should I look at?
