In a posting purportedly fro Dan Kegel <dank at kegel.com> but lacking a
digital signature, it is written:
> The [Dell] Linux system was $388:
Seems like a good system for the students (modulo the usual issues
with Dell).
> Same system with Windows Vista Home: $509
> Here are two options from HP:
> $550: HP Pavilion a6700z Desktop PC with
> * Vista Home Basic with Service Pack 1 (32-bit)
> $480 for HP dx2400 Microtower
> Windows Vista Business with downgrade to Windows XP Professional
These would be unacceptable for students because software that a
student is forbidden to read ("reverse engineer") has no place in a
school. (Would you allow your child to be taught from a book she was
forbidden to read?)
