What grade levels are we talking about?

Just a personal opinion from someone who perhaps has more than average
experience using computers in a regular classroom (pix at
http://members.dslextreme.com/users/juanslayton/dscf0062.jpg ) :
Computer assisted instruction is of questionable value unless you can
engage the whole class at once.  I'd go for the laptops, but realize
that Joel's observation is realistic.
