It looks like there is more at stake when using "ethanol enhanced" gasolines than most people realized -- it seems that the ethanol erodes or dissolves plastic parts in fuel pumps and fuel lines, leading to expensive repair bills

This is in addition to the debate as to whether or not even using it in the first place is a net gain or loss in terms of "energy used to create it" vs. the "energy it imparts to vehicles".  (warning: gets into funny calculations, and even depends on how many variables you consider when calculating it)
