Anyone else using AT&T as their cell phone carrier and using text messages?
I get a daily text message sent from my fileserver at home that
reports the high and low temps from my weather station. When I get
the message it tells me the following:
a) my weather station is online -- high humidity can sometimes
knock a sensor offline which sometimes crashes the application
b) my fileserver is running -- used to have a flaky hard drive that
needed a firmware patch
c) my DSL connection is working
This has been working for fine for several years and on my iPhone it's
always been the same fixed "nnn-nn" number. The last few weeks, the
"contact" number has been changing with each text message. The format
is "1(ddd) nnn-nnn" where ddd is the same and n started at 0 and has
been incrementing each time. I asked AT&T via web chat and they
blamed Apple. But regular text messages from other people show up
correctly. I tried to use another website to send a text message and
it looked okay so I don't think it is Apple. I thought it could have
been an update on my Linux box at home but I just sent a few test
messages from home and from a Solaris machine at work and they both
were assigned a new "contact".
Anyone have any ideas?
