Well, we got a nice logo for the SGVHAK, but still nothing for SGVLUG.
I think it would be good to have a logo for SGVLUG that we can use for the website, a club t-shirt, or flyers to advertise our monthly meetings.
When I googled other LUGs, I noticed that they usually do some variation on a penguin, whether it's the classic Tux penguin with some kind of adornment or someone's rendition of a cartoon penguin. The key is to tie the penguin to something iconic about the group's location, whether they are university or city-based, or even country-based.
The Boulder LUG has mountains in the background. The Uganda LUG has a
flag on the penguin's belly. The Philly LUG has their Tux dressed up as Benjamin Franklin.

My lamest idea was to have a Tux with a sign reading "SGVLUG" across the belly. I hope you all can come up with something better
So what defining feature of the San Gabriel Valley can we adorn our penguin with?
If we can come up with the images or ideas, there are some graphic designers off-list who can help us make it a logo.

Subject: [SGVLUG] Ideas for logos, promotional items?
Hi all,
With Southern California Linux Expo coming up, does anyone have ideas of how to promote the SGVLUG group? Do we have some kind of logo or image we could put on a t-shirt or mug or some other item?
Same goes for the SGVHAK group.
Some of our members have volunteered to help with t-shirt and other swag, both for our personal consumption and to give away as a promotional item.
If you have images or ideas, let me know ASAP. Scoops put me in touch with a graphic designer who can help make that a logo.
We need some time to work with the design if we want to be ready for SCALE. As a reminder, SCALE takes place on Feb 22-24 at the LAX Hilton.
