[SGVLUG] OFF TOPIC: job listing

Hey guys,

Sorry for spamming the list but I didn't see a place to post job
listings on the web site. I'm hesitant to post on the mailing list but
they need to find good candidates soon and the announcement expires
April 3, 2015.

I don't work for the USGS so I don't know what their application process
is like. I can say with first hand knowledge that Earthquake Early
Warning works. The project has been transitioning from a prototype to
demonstration mode the last few years and has been sending alerts to
various "beta" testers to see what kind of warning people receive (it's
based on location of epicenter and individual locations) and what they
would do depending on the warning (estimated shaking intensity and time
before shaking). As you may have heard from recent media reports, the
system is suppose to go live within the next next year.

Anyway please feel free to forward the announcement but please leave my
contact info out of it. I just wanted to give people on the list a
chance to apply before it closes.

Claude

The USGS Pasadena office just opened two slots for permanent, full-time
positions on the Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) project that I've been
supporting for a couple of years now. It's listed as an IT Specialist
(Application Software) position. Languages include Java, C++, Perl,
Python. The platform is primarily Linux. They are looking for
assistance at all phases of a project life-cycle including spec, design,
implementation, test; configuration management, documentation,
certification, etc. Job opening expires April 3, 2015.
