[SGVLUG] Can I Manually Change an IP Address on my Local Machine?

Thank you all 3 of you, including John, and Matt. I installed packages you 
suggested, along with book-marking that wiki. I also did the switch, but in 
comparing these results, it didn't seem like much happened, but it knocked out 
my telnet connection to Shellworld.

Back again live, while I was eventually able to get Uverse running, I am not 
quite sure things are yet normal. For some other aspects of what has been 
suggested, I would feel much better doing this live by phone, incase something 
doesn't go well. Thanks in advance from Sherman Oaks
